Pinot Noir Club – The Willamette Valley Pt 1

It’s hard to believe we’re only 60 years removed from when Pinot Noir was first planted in the Willamette Valley. The thoughtful intent of the vineyard owners and their deep web of international connections could mislead one to think that this little region has produced wine for centuries. Their wines tell a story of relentless perseverance, an ever-present communal bond, and a thoughtfulness perhaps unrivaled in the world of wine. Beyond people, the very soil in Northwestern Oregon tells a complex story of its own. All this has culminated in wines of vast international acclaim worth investigating and investigate them we will!

This is part 1 of a two part series. In this portion we’ll do a sweeping overview of the region and touch on the breadth and depth of the Willamette Valley’s offerings. In part two of our series, we’ll dive deep into the Pinot Noir grape and taste side-by-side the varied expressions of the grape through the distinctive terroirs of the region.
