May Wines
Charles Gonnet Chignin 2024
$21.99
Charles Gonnet owns 13 hectares of vineyards in the heart of the Savoie region in the French Alps. Chignin is the AOC in Savoie that is known for the grape Jacquere. Jacquere is often described as "mountain fresh" perhaps due to its vibrant acidity and mineral undercurrent. This is one of my favorite examples in the market. The nose shows white flowers and green apple and the medium bodied palate has notes of melon and pear with a rich textural mid palate lifted up with a mineral verve. This delicious white wine will be excellent to help navigate the apéro course.
Terrebrune Terre D'Ombre 2023
$27.99
In 1963 an ambitious Paris trained sommelier named Georges Delille renovated an old property in the Bandol which is the most prestigious appellation in Provence, France. He converted it to organic viticulture and started making terroir driven wines centered around the Mourvedre grape which thrives in Bandol. His Terre D"Ombre bottling is essentially a baby Bandol using the younger vine fruit and hand selecting and destemming it allowing for that beautiful ripe Mediterranean fruit to shine through. The nose shows notes of herb de provence and wild berries and the medium-plus bodied palate delivers candied cherry and blackberry fruit with a nice grippy texture. This French classic will course well with duck with cherries.
Laurent Barth Racines Metisses 2023
$27.99
This delightful off dry white wine hails from a small organic estate in Bennwihr, a village in Alsace, France. Laurent Barth makes wines that are bright and pure and his Racines Metisses is a great entry into his style. It is a blend of Pinot Auxerrois, Muscat, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, and Riesling. The nose shows aromas of honey and lime and the medium bodied palate explodes with lychee and tropical fruit with well balanced acidity that prevents it from being cloyingly sweet. A perfect pairing with the cheese and dessert course.
