Join us for an evening with Laika Spirits -Ismael Gomez along with his counterpart Andres Portela as they share their knowledge about tequila, mezcal, and sotol. We will explore the differences of these spirits and learn about the different mezcal plants , local terroir and distilling to showcase each in their own unique way.
Laika Spirits develops and incubates products that embrace their communities of origin, while offering consumers the best examples in their respective categories.
Ismael Gomez, founder of Laika Spirits, has brought some of the rarest and delicious spirits into the States. From a love of Sotol with Flor Del Desierto, Cruz de Fuego Mezcal, or Tuxca with Balancan, his affinity for the esoteric and seemingly unattainable flavors allow us to taste them en masse.
Andres Portela was steeped in hospitality as part of a generous Argentinian family. Early studies in English and getting mix tape suggestions from his musical siblings encouraged Andres to take the stage, but not in the way you’d think. Working his way through the hospitality industry in Mexico, Andres now takes the stage to educate the masses on the beauty of Agave.
