February Wines
Union Sacre Blanc/Gris 2023
$22.99
Union Sacre is a favorite around here, started by two friends (one French, the other from the Midwest) from opposite ends of the world who settled in California's Central Coast to make Alsatian inspired wines.
The 2023 Union Sacré Blanc/Gris is a California Central Coast skin-contact wine (orange wine) featuring a blend of Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris. The nose shows aromas of blood orange and honey and the medium bodied palate delivers strawberry and grapefruit notes with a waxy texture. This will be fun with the langoustine and salad course.
Stolpman Vineyards Estate Syrah 2023
$34.99
The Stolpman vineyards are located in the Ballard Canyon AVA in Santa Barbara California where the cool Pacific winds and limestone soil nurture the grapes along with the Stolpman's commitment to organic and sustainable viticulture.
The Estate Syrah is their flagship wine and is always worth a mention in the context of great Californian Syrah, especially at the price point. The nose shows ripe berry fruit and clove and the medium plus bodied palate delivers silky blue fruit with mineral and notes of grilled meats. This will be excellent with the Beef Wellington.
Lustau Rose Vermut
$23.99
Lustau is widely considered one of the great sherry houses but they also make sneaky good Vermouth. Their Vermouth Rose is butterscotch and vanilla forward with notes of strawberry, orange blossom, and cardamom. This sweeter Vermouth would be a fun pairing with the Manjari Enrobed fruits. Serve chilled in a white wine glass.
