The Loire Valley – The Intersection Of The New And The Old
September 27 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
If you had to choose just one wine region to drink from for the rest of your life, what would your criteria be for selecting? Surely considering the diversity of styles and flavors would be part of the process. What about access to both the traditional and the novel? Price range? History? Romance?
Join us for our deep dive into France’s garden, The Loire Valley.
Along the banks of Europe’s longest river, its vineyards produce a dizzying array of wines from a seemingly infinite variety of grapes and soils. Here we find a wide range of elegant and fresh reds, lean and mean, mineral-driven whites as well as dessert wines so rich and viscous that their depth and complexity is head-spinning.
While the regions of Bordeaux, Burgundy, and Champagne seem to get all the limelight, the value to be found in the wines of the Loire Valley should firmly place this region in the forefront of the wine consumer’s mind. This class will look at the history, culture and vast production of this incredibly important and oft-overlooked, viticultural wonderland.
